Madonna tops Forbes list of highest earning singers
Madonna has topped Forbes list of highest paid singers with a total of
$125m between June 2012 and June 2013.
Beyonce slipped to the ninth position in the crown for the
highest-paid musician on the planet, and Madonna can claim she remains
the true financial queen of the music world by grabbing number one
spot with earnings of $125m (£77m), according to Forbes.
The rich-list of the best earning music stars compiled by the US
publication places Lady Gaga in a distant second with earnings of $80m
(£49.6m), while Beyonce is all the way down in ninth place with an
estimated income of $53m (£32.9m) – a figure that puts her even behind
Taylor Swift, who earns $55m (£34.1m).
Nonetheless, Beyonce deserves credit because the Grown Woman singer is
the only black music act in the top ten that features four female solo
stars, four male solo singers, and two bands.
Surprisingly Beyonce's husband Jay Z, famously for his entrepreneurial
interests, only ranks as number 18, while P Diddy is the highest
placed black man on the list by claiming 11th spot.
The rankings only took into account living artists and calculated
pre-tax income earned between June 1, 2012, to June 1, 2013.
