TECH: Scientist made magic pen

Image
have you heard about Lernstift, a pen that spell checks your words as you write. Lernstift has a built-in motion sensor that transfers data via Wi-Fi to a handwriting recognition engine thatimmediately recognizes misspellings and poor calligraphy. The pen vibrates when you make a mistake. Lernstift was created by Falk Wolsky, a German software developer and inventor, who quickly partnered with Daniel Kaesmacher to bring the pen to market. It currently operates in German and English, but any language is possible, said Kaesmacher. “The idea for Lernstift was born from a family moment,” explainedKaesmacher during a Skype interview. Last October, Wolsky’s wife was helping their son with his homework when she noticed he was making several spelling mistakes because he wasn’t focusing. Igbo youths tackle Fani-Kayode (Aviation minister) on comments against Igbo

Image
Igbo youths have accused a former Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, of inciting the Yoruba against the Igbo. The former minister’s recent article entitled, ‘The bitter truth about the Igbo’, the youth said, was “satanic and selfish.” The youth, who spoke under the auspices of the Igbo Youth Movement, noted that Fani-Kayode via the article was only seeking political relevance in Yoruba land. They spoke through the IYM President, Rev. Elliot Ukoh, in Enugu on Thursday. Ukoh said, “The author of that article has a life-long burden. He has issues with the Yoruba people. His father, who was deputy to the late Samuel Ladoke Akintola, belonged to the tiny Yoruba click, which the late Ahmadu Bello’s Northern Peoples Congress used to destabilise Yoruba land and destroy Yoruba unity in the First Republic. “The damage this group did to Yoruba psyche – imprisonment of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo – is still reverberating till date and many have yet to forgive Chief Remi Fani-Kay...

Alleged advance-fee fraud scammer, Fred Ajudua, is currently on admission at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for kidney-related problem, which was said to have led to him urinating blood. It was learnt that Ajudua was, on August 3, 2013, rushed to LUTH from Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, where he had been remanded by an order of a Lagos High Court, Ikeja. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in 2003 arraigned Ajudua and his co-accused, Charles Hijiudu, for allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen – Mr. Remy Cina and Pierre Vijgen – of about $1.69m between July 1999 and September 2000. The matter, which had proceeded to trial, had been stalled after he stopped attending court up till December 2005, when the court revoked the bail earlier granted him. The trial judge, Justice Olubunmi Oyewole, in July, subsequently dismissed his fresh bail application, but ordered that he should be allowed to be treated in a hospital whenever his condition could not...
